Well basically. The Greek gods, Zeus, Athena.. etc etc. . well they got all moony eyed for a mortal each and ended up having a child with that mortal. Well.. children of the maiden goddesses weren't actually 'conceived' for example. Athena's children would be conceived by thoughts. Here's the catch. They're not in Greece. The Gods move with the west. So right now.. Olympus is on the 600th floor of the empire state building in America. Weird huh? Anyway. When a 'half-blood' or demi-god' reaches the age of 12, they must go to a place called 'camp half blood' (located in a large valley, protected by ancient magic) to train themselves up. However. The big 3/ Zeus, Poseidon and Hades made a pact to never have any children because those heroes always ended up being too powerful. However..Zeus and Poseidon have broken the pact and sired a child. These 2 children will join the demi-gods at camp half blood to be trained.
Camp Half-Blood Staff
Camp Director- Dionysus (God of Wine. AKA Mr D) For getting misty eyed over a woodland spirit, Mr. D's father Zeus sentanced him to 100 years at being the Camp Director. A job he HATES
Activities Director- Chiron (Centaur/Trainer of Heroes) The Gods agreed to make Chiron immortal as long as he was needed to train heroes. So he is the activies director at Camp Half Blood.
Security Chief- Argus (many eyed one) Argus is covered in eyes. This makes him perfect security.
Cleaners- Cleaning Harpies. (man-eating monsters) Watch out. One the last day of camp, if you're unregistered and staying for the whole year.. they'll eat you. They'll also eat you if you're out after curfew.
Camp Half-blood (setting)
there's a large farmhouse in the center of the camp. Several activites take place in there and in the attic is where the oracle lives.
There are large strawberry fields where the satyrs play their reed pipes to help them grow and be delicious.
There is a huge forest which is filled with lakes and interesting creature. Some are dangerous but you also have the wood nymphs.
There is a large archery range, helpful if you need to practice with a bow and arrow.
There's a large lake which is designed especially for canoeing.
There are stabled which are filled with Pegasi (flying horses) of all different colours.
There was a javelin range designed to.. well.. throws javelins in.
And a large arena where sword and spear fights are held. These are for the cabin challenges.
The mess hall is an outdoor pavilion framed in white Grecian columns on a hill overlooking the sea. There are a dozen picnic tables but no roof.
Cabins
There are 12 cabins. Located in the woods by the lake and set out in a U shape. 2 in the base and 5 in a row on each side.
Cabin 1- (Zeus) A large white marble building with heavy columns in front. It has polished bronze doors and from different angles, lightning bolts seem to shine from them. (Note: No-one has lived here for a long time. But when Zeus's daughter/son comes to the camp they will live here.
Cabin 2- (Hera) A large white marble building with Slim columns in front, garlanded with pomegranates and flowers. The walls are carved with images of peacocks. (Note: Hera is the goddess of Marriage. She wouldn't have any children sired by mortals. This cabin is merely out of respect)
Cabin 3- (Poseidon) It's low and long and solid. The outer walls are of rough gray stone studded with pieces of seashells and coral. (Note: Like Zeus, this cabin has been empty a while. Only Poseidon's son/daughter may sleep in here.
Cabin 4- (Demeter) This cabin has tomato vines on the wooden walls and the roof is made out of actual grass.
Cabin 5- (Ares) It's bright red with barbed wire around the top and a stuffed boars head stuck above the door.
Cabin 6- (Athena) A silvery building, nothing fancy with white curtains and a carved stone owl over the doorway.
Cabin 7- (Aphrodite) This cabin is very girlish. It has the obvious womans touch and is very Aphrodite.
Cabin 8- (Dionysus) A cabin which has grape vines sneaking up the side of it. It's quite fancy but not as grand as the larger ones.
Cabin 9- (Hephaestus) This cabin is just like a metal workshop, with tiny smokestacks that make it look like a factory
Cabin 10- (Apollo) This Cabin is pure gold. It's hard to look at it in the sunshine. Figures Apollo would want this.
Cabin 11- (Hermes) looks just like a summer cap home should, wooden, and quite old. On the top of the doorway, a winged pole with two snakes wrapped around it (a caduceus) is carved.
Cabin 12- (Artemis) A small cabin which has the mark of Artemis above the doorway. (Note: Artemis has no children. Once again this is a respect thing)
